Question about ATSC tuner in a DVD recorder?
Some DVD recorders with digital tuners are not able to output a high content definition from ATSC. It seems that make the original HD signal to 480p and then up converted to 1080p. The conversion to down seems to be needed for purposes of DVD recording. How can I find a DVD recorder / VCR combo deck with an ATSC tuner to offer high definition content a real HDTV monitor live broadcasts of digital HD OTA?
You can not. There are not. The DVD standard is only for the resolution standard, so it can record high-definition DVD. It is unlikely you will see any recorders that pass through HD signals for display on vivo. This is not a technical limitation, it's just that doing so would add a cost to the recorder.
